A proposed expansion to the Briarhill Shopping Centre has been turned down.

City planners have rejected Liam Mulryan’s plans to launch phase two of the shopping centre on the Monivea Road.

Liam Mulryan had hoped to expand the Briarhill Shopping Centre by an extra 13 retail units in over 6,000 square metres.

The development was to include a public mall as well as the two storey building on a greenfield site beside the existing Briarhill Shopping Centre.

The council considered any expansion to Briarhill Shopping Centre premature pending the delivery of the Outer City Bypass.
