Pictured at the launch of the exhibition are: Mary Waters Roundstone/Sligo; artist Monica Hennelly; Theresa O’Brien, Athenry; and Monica’s husband Tom Hennelly, Glencorrib, County Mayo.

Local artist Monica Hennelly from Derrydonnell, Oranmore, and originally from Patrick Kavanagh’s ‘stony grey soil’ of Monaghan is holding an art exhibition in Brazco Café, Oranmore (Lidl), during the month of April.

Monica has been painting quietly at home during the past number of years and the spark that initiated this exhibition was a request from lifelong friend Vincent Cahill, originally from Castlerea, and now living in Tuam.

Vincent spent all of his working life in London and celebrated his 70th birthday recently.

Monica got six photos from each decade of Vincent’s life and painted a collage of them.
