Kinvara Area Visual Arts (KAVA) will host an exhibition of portraits by photographer Markus Voetter from Friday March 2 to Sunday March 18 at The Courthouse in Kinvara

The exhibition, Faces & Crafts of Kinvara, is composed of images of local Kinvara craftspeople at work.

“As a photographer, I naturally feel drawn to documenting particularly intriguing facets of life, this has led me to this ongoing photographic project,” said Voetter.

He wants to draw attention to some of the traditional professions to be found in Kinvara, to highlight the skill involved in them, and to inspire new generations to continue these crafts.

“Also, because they are integral to the ongoing success of our town I feel it is important to record and preserve the work of these artisans,” said Voetter, who is originally from East Germany and now lives in Kinvara.

He was introduced to visual arts and illustrations at an early age. He started making pencil and watercolour drawings, developed an appreciation for light and composition, and used imagery as a way to express himself.
