CITY TRIBUNE
Exhibition captures coastal wonders
A selection of limited edition giclée prints from Furbo artists Donnacha Quilty is currently running in Anton’s Café in Galway City and will continue until the end of April.
Donnacha’s work is rooted in an appreciation of the coastal landscape and he’s inspired by its constantly changing compositions and qualities of light. In his recent work, he has moved towards more abstract, expressive and gestural forms of painting although he’s keen not to lose the sense of time and place that is intrinsic to his art.
Donnacha’s paintings and drawings are in private collections throughout Ireland and internationally, and include commissions.
The artist, who has a keen interest in wildlife, has exhibited in several group shows and recently had a successful solo exhibition in Barna.
Donnacha has also worked as a set designer for musical societies and pantomimes as well as designing stages and installations for numerous charity gala events.
He has qualifications in art and design, contemporary art and in teaching from various third level institutions and has worked as an art teacher since 1998.
Anton’s, on Fr Griffin Road, is currently open for takeaway service, Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm.
