EX IRA LOUGHREA RESIDENT GIVEN TOP JOB

A Loughrea resident has been appointed to a senior position in the cross-border group, Foras na Gaeilge.
Sinn Fein party member, Eoghan Mac Cormaic has been given the role of deputy chairman of the funding organisation.
According to the Sunday Independent newspaper, Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Eamon O Cuiv says he has “no problem” with the appointment of the former IRA man.
Eoghan Mac Cormaic served 15 years of a life sentence for the murder of policewoman Linda Baggley in June 1976.
After being released from prison, he moved to Galway and attended NUIG, where he was president of the Students Union for a time.
