Ex-boyband star strikes right note in new career

CITY officials will not relish the prospect of the new Mayor of Galway being controversial councillor, Padraig Conneely, but this scenario is likely to become a reality as it is Fine GaelÕs turn to take charge of the Ôhot seatÕ and Cllr Conneely is the favourite in this regard.
The party has three city councillors,who will be have to vote for whoever the nominees are Ñ and this will put former Mayor Brian Walsh in an invidious position.
Cllr Conneely has made it blatantly clear that he will be putting forward his name for the position of Mayor, but so will former two time Mayor, CllrJohn Mulholland,who has expressed a desire to make it a hat trick of occasions in which to wear the prestigious chain of office.
As both councillors will, obviously, be voting for themselves, it is then down to Cllr Walsh to decide which of them succeeds, and it is understood from Fine Gael sources that Cllr Walsh will be supporting Cllr Conneely ahead of his Salthill-based colleague.
The prospect of Cllr Conneely becoming the cityÕs new mayor will not be welcomed by the city officials who have regularly been the subject of his wrath. Since he was…………………….
