EVIDENCE PRESENTED AT COMPETITION TRIAL INVOLVING TUAM WASTE COMPANY

The Central Criminal Court has heard a Tuam-based waste company and its Managing Director charged under the Competition Act, was part of a consortium set up to divide up the Mayo waste collection market.
Wers Waste and its director Paul Gleeson are among three waste companies and four individuals charged with 20 counts connected with a tender process for a waste contract with Mayo County council in 2005.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges before before Justice Liam McKechnie at the Central Criminal Court, sitting in Galway, and the trial is expected to last 6 days.
