Eviction notice to be served on illegal Traveller camp in Athenry
Galway Bay fm newsroom – Notice to leave is to be served on travellers living illegally on a site close to the town of Athenry.
The Travelling community, which includes six children, moved two caravans onto a public road in Pairc na hAbhainn earlier this week.
Galway county council will serve the section 10 notice on the encampment tomorrow.
There are 48 families living in the county on unauthorised sites, roadside encampments or involuntarily sharing accommodation.
Referring to the Athenry situation Galway Senator Lorraine Higgins says ‘no-one is above the law’.
