European Investment Bank agrees in principle to fund Gort to Tuam motorway

The European Investment Bank has signalled that it has agreed in principle to fund the N17-N18 Gort to Tuam link road.

It’s one of three public private partnerships which have been given the assurance, all of which were part of the Government’s stimulus package announced last year.

The Tuam to Gort link road consists of 57 kilometres of motorway/dual carriageway.

The Authority is currently procuring, by way of Public Private Partnership, the design, construction, operation and financing of the scheme.

Construction is expected to start by the end of 2013.

Last February, a commitment of 20 million euro was made by the Department of Public Expenditure as an initial deposit to get negotiations underway.
