EU COMMISSIONER ADDRESS GMIT BUSINESS INNOVATION FORUM

Promoting high growth innovative firms is the best way to revitalise our economy and restructure towards future and emerging sectors.

That’s the message from EU Commissioner Maire Geoghegan Quinn who addressed the GMIT School Of Business Innovation forum earlier today.

The Commissioner commended the institute for its efforts to forge close links with industry and thereby promote social and voluntary innovation in both Galway and Mayo.

She added that the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, the last under the 7th Framework Programme for research, will help hundreds of good ideas grow.

Concluding her address, she told delegates that the European Commission is focused on building strong links between the business community and academia
