Eskies ready for musical mayhem in Monroe’s Live
Musical Mayhem celebrates its fifth birthday with a bonanza show featuring The Eskies, in Monroe’s Live on Friday, October 3. Musical Mayhem has been hosting bands from Ireland and beyond since 2009 and, for this year the event will be hosted, as usual, by Mikey & the Scallywags, who will be joined by Galway ska sensations Big Jelly, the theatrical My Fellow Sponges and The Eskies.
The Eskies, who describe their musical style as “folk noir/gypsy sea shanty and swaggering stage spectacular”, have had a hectic summer, playing festivals all over the country.
Ian Bermingham of the Dublin band looks back over a busy few months.
“I’m still trying to make sense of it,” he says. “It’s the busiest the five of us have ever been. Four or five gigs every weekend, getting all over the country, even getting out of the country.”
Given that their familiarity with the festival circuit, is there any event that stands out for The Eskies?
