ESB SEEKS TO RETAIN CONTROVERSIAL WESTSIDE MASTS

The ESB has applied to Galway City Council for permission to retain two 38 kilovolt lattice steel masts at Westside in the city.

One mast is located on Siobhán McKenna road, the other is on Circular road in Westside Park on City Council land.

In the application, the ESB says the work is part of the enabling works for the future Salthill 110KV station, which will result in the removal of all the lines crossing the park and football pitches.

City Planners will decide on the future of the Westside masts next month [sept].
