Environment Minister to review Galway quangos

Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Minister for the Environment is to conduct a review of quangos such as Galway City Partnership and Forum Connemara.
According to today’s Irish Independent, in some quangos around the country, up to one-third of public funding is being spent on salaries and administration.
The head of Galway City Partnership is on a salary of 94 thousand 550, the head of Galway Rural Local Community Development Programme gets an annual salary of 81 thousand 592 euro, while the boss of Forum Connemara receives a salary of just under 69 thousand euro.
The figures don’t include pension entitlements.
The various bodies aim to help small businesses and community groups.
Environment Minister, Phil Hogan is to carry out a root-and-branch review of such bodies across the country and hopes to align them with local authorities.
