EMERGENCY SERVICES CONTAIN GORSE FIRE IN MAAM CROSS
The fire brigade is now leaving the scene of a gorse fire in Maam Cross in Connemara after bringing it under control.
One unit from Clifden and another from Mayo went to tackle the blaze just before 12.30 this afternoon and the Garda helicopter has now taken over.
A small fire is also being dealt with in the Barna area out towards Furbo.
Outside of Galway west, a fire is also being dealt with in Belclare in Tuam with crews called out at around 2 this afternoon.
This afternoon’s fresh blazes follow gorse fires overnight in Doon East in Oughterard, Waterloo Bridge, east of Clifden town, Cill Chiarain and in Recess.
