EMERGENCY PATIENTS FACE FOUR HOUR WAIT AT UHG
Date Published: 03-Jun-2009
Many patients will have to wait at least four hours for emergency treatment at University Hospital Galway following a very busy 24 hours.
Ten patients are currently waiting for a bed in the A and E department, while a high number of patients are still waiting to be seen by emergency staff.
A spokesperson for the hospital says that there is no one particular reason for the long delays, but says that “the past 24 hours have been extremely busy”.
Earlier today, many patients had to endure a 14 hour wait for treatment at the A and E department, however this has now been reduced to a four to five hour wait.
