EMERGENCY CREWS BATTLE TO CONTAIN POCKETS OF BARNA GORSE FIRE
Fire crews from the city and county are still battling to control a gorse fire in the Barna area this morning.
Four crews remain at the scene where a number of pockets of fire are still burning in areas between Furbo and Barna.
Elsewhere in Oranmore, a large gorse fire in the Frenchfort area has now been brought under control.
Crews left the area at 4.30 this morning after battling a blaze for some hours since last evening, with brigades rotated between the city and county.
It follows other weekend gorse fires in other areas including the Curragh Line and Cleggan as the cold and dry spell continues.
