Electro-rock trio EDFT part of the Rocktoberfest line-up at Monroe’s
Still buzzing from a set at this year’s Electric Picnic, Galway electro-rock trio EDFT will play Monroe’s Live on Thursday, October 9, as part of the venue’s latest undertaking. Rocktoberfest.
The band was formed by brothers Éimhín and Fiachra Cradock and Dave Donoghue – EDFT stands for Éimhín, Dave and Fiachra’s Tunes. They had been playing together in different bands for well over a decade, but started this project two years ago.
Their diverse influences include such groups as Rage Against the Machine, Faithless and Calvin Harris, and there are echoes of the experimental guitar gymnastics of Rage’s Tom Morello, not to mention his ear for a bombastic, funky riff.
Rhythm is at the foundation of everything EDFT does, and the group goes for a beat-laden sound that aims to get head bangers and dance fans alike itching to move. They are precise and fluid player who create a hell of a racket for a three-piece.
EDFT play Rocktoberfest at Monroe’s Live on Thursday next, October 9. Doors are at 8pm.
