Eight Galway settlements on latest defaulters list

A total of eight Galway businesses have made settlements with the Revenue totaling almost 860 thousand euro.

Construction contractor William Kilkenny of Kill in Kiltormer made the largest Galway settlement of over 292 thousand euro.

It was for underdeclaration of income tax, VAT and Capital Gains Tax.

This was followed by Motor dealer Gerard Herwood of Knockdoe in Claregalway who made a settlement of over 217 thousand euro.

This was a penalty determination by the courts relating to an underdeclaration of VAT and income tax.

Nationally, four people have made settlements of more than a million euro with Revenue for defaulting of tax.

The biggest settlement of over two point one million euro was with Midland Contractors Limited from Courtown in Kells.
