Galway city council says reservoir levels are stabilising but the public’s support is still needed in conserving water

Thousands of homes and businesses in the city and county still have no water or restricted supply due to problems caused by the snow and the thaw

The council is continuing to repair leaks and the damage to water distribution equipment caused by the ice and snow

It’s also maintaining its nightly restricted pressure from 9, and until 7 in the mornings

It has two temporary water tankers in operation located at Doughiska road and Millar’s Lane, and the water must be boiled before use

The county council is now turning off supply nightly to ALL schemes to build up reservoirs

Official Enda Moloney says they hope to relax the water restrictions today to facilitate New Year’s Eve festivities

However, he’s warning the night-time restrictions from 9pm to 9am will continue for several more nights
