Galway city council has vowed to find the source of a toxic leak into Lough Attalia before Christmas.

Local residents reported a milky white substance in the water near the bottom end of the lake twelve days ago.

Galway city council has confirmed a scientist from their environmental and sanitary section went to the scene at Lough Attalia on Friday 21st December to investigate reports of a white substance seen in the water.

No sample was taken by the official however, as the tide was out at the time.

It’s believed the toxic leak could have come from stormwater drains on the Monivea Road.

The Council insists they’re monitoring Lough Attalia very closely to pin point the exact source of the pollution and their investigation will continue.
