EDUCATION MINISTER SUPPORTS INCLUSION OF GALWAY DOCTORS ON HSE ENQUIRY

The Education Minister is supporting the inclusion of Galway doctors on the HSE enquiry into the death of Savita Halappanavar.

He says UHG personnel should be the first to conduct an inquiry into her death.

It comes after Savita’s husband Praveen called for an independent inquiry into his wife’s death at University Hospital Galway.

Three members of the HSE review team are doctors at the hospital but they were not involved in Savita’s case.

However, the chairman of the review team has defended their appointment – saying it’s necessary in order to compare guidelines.
