ECONOMIC DOWNTURN PUTS LOUGHREA LEISURE CENTRE AT RISK

A proposed seven million euro leisure centre in Loughrea may be at risk because Government funding has still not been granted for the project.

Galway County Council was promised a grant for a swimming pool and leisure centre project several years ago but no funding has been given to date.

At this week’s meeting of Loughrea town council, councillors were told that recent correspondance from the Government still did not commit to any funding.
