WHILE voting has been up to 4 or 5 pre cent so far in the city and Tuam less than two per cent have voted in some of the polling stations in East Galway in the Children’s referendum.

Voter turnout in Clifden has been slightly higher, but well below 10 per cent.

However the tiny number of people voting in some parts of east Galway is so low that some polling stations there could have the lowest turnout in Ireland.

Meanwhile in Clifden only 32 people out of 450 had cast their votes at one poling station in the West Connemara town.

The situation is similar in some of the city pooling stations with approximately five per cent voting so far in Ballybane and a similar figure for Tyrellan.

In Corrandrum 20 out of 520 had voted by this lunchtime but in most polling station the big rush is expected to be this evening.

Galway West as 145 poling station while there are 149 in galway east and all are open for voting till 10 o’clock tonight.
