Early second half scoring blitz sees Milltown home
Milltown 4-18
Killannin 3-12
MILLTOWN merged on top in a shootout in sunny Salthill on Sunday that produced seven goals and thirty points, including twenty-five from play.
Former county star Michael Martin went to town scoring 2-5, all bar one point from play, to lead the North Galway men to a nine-point victory in round one of Group C of the Galway Senior Football Championship.
Another ex-Galway player, Mark Hehir (0-4), and Galway U20 All-Ireland winner, Eoin Mannion (1-4) also did serious damage as Milltown proved too strong for last year’s semi-finalists.
A tally of 3-12 would probably win most senior championship matches but Killannin were just too porous at the back. They paid dearly during a ten minutes spell immediately after half-time.
