EARLY CHILD DEVELOPMENT GALWAY CHECKS NO SHOWS TO BE TACKLED
The HSE is working to tackle the significant number of missed appointments for child early development checks in Galway.
Catherine Cunningham, the Area Manager for the Galway and Roscommon PCCC group says participation is a problem as any developmental delays should be caught early.
Her comments come following a recent HSE report which showed that just a quarter of babies in Galway were getting such checks before the age of 10 months.
In January, Catherine Cunningham says there was an 11 percent rate of non-attendance in this category.
Speaking on Galway Talks, she says although 474 appointments were given that month, many of these were for children of an older age category.
