Eagles cancel Galway gig

THE Eagles concert scheduled for the end of June at Pearse Stadium has been cancelled. Aiken Promotions announced yesterday that the outdoor concert on Sunday, June 28, had been pulled “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

Ticket sales for the concert had been slow from the get go, with many believing the sit down tickets up near the stage to be too expensive at €131.25 (standing tickets were priced at €86.25).

Last week there were still plenty of tickets for sale through Ticketmaster, four months after they went on sale.

The California based band, formed in the seventies and still going strong despite interpersonal problems among band members, are also playing in Belfast and Dublin the same weekend. Galway’s concert was to be the first night of the Irish tour, which is to promote their latest album, Long Road out of Eden, a double CD with mostly new material.
