Anne Rabbitte: BEEP payments on the way.

OVER 10,700 farmers in Connacht and Clare are set to receive a pay-out of over €15.4 million in the BEEP-S scheme before Christmas.

A total of 2,728 farmers in Galway, will between them, share in an allocation of over €4.28 million under the Beef Environmental Efficiency Programme – an average payment of €1,570 per participant.

The payments were confirmed this week by Fianna Fáil East Galway TD and Minister of State, Anne Rabbitte, who said that Galway was the biggest beneficiary across the country under BEEP-S, both in participants and in the gross pay-out figure.

Nationally, there will be a pay-out of almost €40.5m to almost 24,500 farmers in the BEEP-S scheme which is aimed at increasing the economic and environmental efficiency of the suckler herd.

Up to €90 is payable for the first 10 of cow/calf pairs with a maximum of €80 per cow-calf for the remainder up to a total of 100 per herd – potentially a farmer could draw down €8,100 annually in the scheme.
