More than €21m worth of residential properties was sold in Galway city and county during the month of October – representing a decrease of almost one-fifth on the same month last year.
The figures from the Government’s official Property Price Register show that a total of 124 sales were completed last month – that is down by around one-quarter on the 169 sales completed during October 2013. In the first two weeks of October alone, more than €10.5m (67 homes) worth of sales were recorded in Galway.
This week, Tribune Property publish the details of the 52 property sales which were completed in the last two weeks of October, and had a combined value of more than €9.5m. The biggest sales recorded during the period were both four-bed detached homes – one in Forramoyle East in Barna for €456,000 and another in Corcullen, Moycullen for €420,000.
In this regular feature, Tribune Property publishes property sales figures for the city and county using data scraped from the Property Price Register, and modified to include (where available) a brief description of the property and the initial asking price.
In a small number of transactions included in the Register, the price shown does not represent the full market price of the property concerned for a variety of reasons. All such properties are marked with asterisks.
For example, the price declared may reflect the retention of an interest in the property by the previous owner, or the fact that a part or fraction only of the property is being purchased; alternatively, the property may have been purchased at a reduced price under the Affordable Homes Scheme.
In addition, in a very small number of cases, properties may be declared as purchased in exchange for other property, stocks and shares, etc. If the property is a new property, the price shown is exclusive of VAT at 13.5%.
