New Tuam soccer club has 22 foreign nationals on the panel!

A Tuam-based soccer club has almost certainly created its own piece of history – by fielding a new team in which 22 of the 24 strong panel are foreign nationals.

For years Dynamo Blues have had one adult side, but now they have entered a B team in Division 4 of the Galway and District League – and it certainly has a very international feel to it.

It came about when members of the mainly Polish community in Tuam and neighbouring towns often came together for a kick-around and then they decided to make things official.

There are 19 Polish nationals on the panel, one from Brazil, another from Estonia and one from Slovakia.

Then there are two local lads Aaron Connolly and Raymond Holian to make up the panel.

A number of them approached the committee of Dynamo Blues and asked if they could form a team to play in the league and they were given the green light.

And last weekend in their first ever outing, they recorded a 6-2 victory over St Bernard’s B from Abbeyknockmoy. Naturally they were delighted with their performance.

Appropriately Kuba Nowaczyk scored a brace of goals; he was actually the inspiration behind them, approaching Dynamo Blues with the intention of forming a team to play in the league.
