Dunne makes first signings for Galway FC
Galway FC manager Tommy Dunne has made his first signings for the new club, with the announcement that six players have put pen to paper for the 2014 season.
The six players in question – Noel Varley (22), Martin Conneely (23), Marc Ludden (23), Stephen Walsh (23), Jason Molloy (25), Paul Sinnott (27) – were all members of the Mervue United squad that reached the promotion/relegation play-off final in the 2013 season, while Walsh, Molloy and Sinnott had previously played for Galway United.
“It’s good that we have started to sign players and it will leave us in a good position when training starts. I’m very happy with the players we are signing. They have all performed to a high standard for Mervue.
“All the players seem genuinely excited about joining a Galway team that will be playing at Eamonn Deacy Park,” said Dunne, who said pre-season training will begin in mid-January for a season that kicks-off on the weekend of Friday March 7.
Season tickets are now on sale, priced at €99 for adults and €65 for students, senior citizens and the unwaged. There is also a family season ticket for €199, which is for two adults and three children under the age of 18. Children under the age of 12 accompanied by an adult will be permitted entry free of charge during the season.
Tickets are available from the Galway FC office at Eamonn Deacy Park; from the Mervue United clubhouse at Fahy’s Field, or from O’Brien’s Newsagents on William Street and Reidy Menswear in the Galway Shopping Centre; as well as The Square Inn in Athenry and Raftery’s Oakland Hotel in Glenamaddy.
