Duke is coming back

Duke Special makes a welcome return to Galway on Monday, December 1. The dreadlocked balladeer will be playing an eagerly anticipated show in the Black Box, Dyke Road.

October saw the release of his second album I Never Thought This Day Would Ever Come, which includes the single Sweet Sweet Kisses — a song that’s been getting some serious airplay. A fervent performer who harks back to the pre-rock’n’roll era with dashes of Gershwin and orchestral swing, Duke Special stands on stage with a white knuckle grasp on originality.

Gloriously vintage and unlike any other artist, he is “trying to put across something that’s more than just a singer-songwriter playing his songs. I want it to be a show that moves people, but also entertains them too.”

Tickets €20.
