The number of penalty point offences held by Galway drivers during December dropped by over 300 compared to November.

The latest figure from the National Safety Council showed a downward trend among common offences last month.

Driving while using a mobile phone was one of the few common offences which attracted a rise in number by 25 compared with November.

Speeding remains the biggest penalty point earner, with almost 16 thousand offences currently held by drivers across the county.
