Dozens tested following TB scare in city centre pub
Galway City Tribune – Customers and staff at a Galway City centre pub have been tested for tuberculosis – after a drinker with TB possibly spread the infectious and potentially lethal disease.
Up to 100 people came in contact with the woman, who was coughing and spluttering while drinking in the bar one evening in March.
Bar staff, customers of the pub, and other people including family and friends who came in close contact with the woman, have been offered screening.
They are being checked if they have contracted the infection from the woman with active TB, a deadly disease that is preventable and curable.
HSE West has confirmed to Galway City Tribune that it is following up on the incident.
