Doubts over future of Tuam Bon Secours car park
Galway Bay fm newsroom – There are doubts about the temporary car park at Tuam’s former Bon Secours Hospital remaining open.
The temporary car park has been operating while refurbishment work has been ongoing at The Shambles car park.
Mayor Imelda Kelly said when she attended a meeting of the Tuam Area County Councillors they had sent a request to the HSE to keep the former Grove Hospital car park open in tandem with the one at The Shambles.
Cllr Tom Reilly again asked that the HSE remove the boards covering the windows at the former hospital as it gave the impression that the building was vandalised which is not the situation.
But in his reply, council official Evan Molloy said that it is possible that the boards will be removed from the windows once the area in front of the former hospital ceases to be a car park again, which seemed to cast doubt about it being retained for this purpose once The Shambles reopens.
