Documentary on Tribune’s 100 years

The Connacht Tribune will be 100 years old next year and a documentary film to mark the centenary is currently being researched by independent producers, CBoard Films.

This is a production for TG4 and it will look back at the founding and growth of the paper from 1909 and the wealth of stories that were carried in its pages in the years since.

It will look at the newspaper’s role through the decades in the history of Galway City and County, and how it covered national and international events over its proud 100 year history.

It aims to put the Tribune’s history into a broader context, as well as specifically tracking momentous occasions in its own lifetime. Many momentous happenings and periods will be recalled, such as the fight for independence, the Civil War and two World Wars, as well as happier events like Galway’s All Ireland football three-in-a-rowin the 1960s.
