Docks concert venue project attracts worldwide entries

A COMPETITION launched this Summer – seeking designs for an iconic outdoor entertainment venue at the Docks – has attracted interest from all over the world, with close on 150 registrations of
interest.
This week, Galway Harbour Board have expressed its delight at the level of interest in the competition where entrants will be given a “clean sheet and a clear site” to come up with their design concept.
The broad terms of reference relate to the provision of an outdoor entertainment area with a 1,500 capacity, complete with a retractable or folding roof, to be located at the Centre Pier of the current Docks.
Eamon Bradshaw, CEO of the Galway Harbour Board, told the Sentinel that the Harbour Board was delighted with the level of interest in the competition at local, national and international level.
