DISRUPTION TO CITY BROWN BIN COLLECTION AS EFFORTS CONTINUE TO REPLACE REFUSE FLEET
Date Published: 05-Dec-2012
City households are advised to expect interruption to their brown-bin refuse collection for the remainder of the week.
Galway City Council says it’s currently concluding a process for the replacement of its refuse fleet which will be completed by next week.
It HAS already secured equipment to carry out the green bin collection as normal.
The local authority is however refusing to confirm or deny a claim from local Cllr Padraig Conneely that the company who supplies bin collection trucks and street cleaners withdrew its machinery from the city council yard last evening.
It says it’s now in the process of sourcing equipment to carry out the brown-bin refuse collection and normal service will resume next week.
The firm who supplies such machinery rental to the city council has declined to comment on the claims when contacted by Galway Bay fm news.
However, Cllr Conneely says such disruption is simply not good enough for city households.
