Major travel disruption is expected in Galway again this morning, as the national Bus Eireann strike enters its second day.

The Transport Minister, Leo Varadkar, has appealed to members of the National Bus and Rail Union to immediately enter talks to resolve the dispute – which has resulted in disruption on over 95 per cent of Bus Eireann’s services.

Bus drivers are protesting against five million euro worth of cuts to their overtime and premium pay.

Up to 20 Bus Éireann drivers held a picket outside the bus depot at the docks in the city last evening.

School buses are expected to operate as normal this morning, despite the rolling strike.

Bus Eireann Spokesman Andrew McLindon says the union has assured them school buses won’t be affected.
