DIRECT WARNING TO POLITICIANS OVER PLANNED PORTIUNCULA CUTS
Date Published: 17-Aug-2010
Politicians in Galway have been given a direct warning today [17/8] that any cuts to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe will result in them losing their seats in the next election.
Over two thousand people held hands and formed a human chain around the hospital today against plans by the HSE West to cut its budget even further.
IMPACT trade union claims that the executive wants to shave another 7 million euro of the budget for the Ballinasloe hospital.
Union officials told gathered demonstrators and politicians today that if the proposed cuts go ahead, local politicians should expect to lose their seats in the next election.
