DEVELOPMENT COMPANY ALLOWED TO BUILD MORE RETAIL SPACE

A development company hoping to build more retail space at a major mixed development at Forster St and the Lough Atalia Link Road has been successful.

Castlehope Ltd with an address at Dublin’s Ormond Quay appealed the city council’s refusal to increase retail floor space in the building.

Castlehope Ltd wanted to put an extra floor level in the building but the city council said it would go against the city development plan.

But An Bord Pleanála has ruled that the mezzanine level and carparks can be built.

However, Castlehope Ltd has lost its fight to put another retail floor on the upper basement level-the appeals board says it doesn’t fit in with the plans.
