DEPARTMENT REJECTS SUGGESTION GALWAY SMARTER TRAVEL “DEAD”

The Government is expected to make a decision shortly regarding the Smarter Travel Areas Competition for which Galway has two entries.

Galway Metropolitan Area, which involves Galway City and County Councils, has submitted an application, while Loughrea has also entered the competition.

At a recent meeting of the City Council, it was suggested that funding for the smarter travel competition had been pulled.

However in a statement to Galway Bay Fm News, the Department of Transport says continued strong investment in smarter travel has been secured.
