Dense fog to cause dangerous road conditions
Road users are warned to expect dangerous conditions overnight, with widespread dense fog expected across Galway this evening and into tomorrow morning.
Motorists have been advised to use fog lights, with cyclists and pedestrians warned to light up well and be very cautious.
Met Eireann has issued a Status Orange fog warning for Connacht, as well as a Status Yellow low temperature warning.
Widespread dense fog is expected this evening, overnight and in the morning in most of Connacht. The fog warning is in place until midday Friday.
Temperatures will dip to between zero and -3°C, with a widespread sharp to severe frost and some icy patches.
The advice from AA Roadwatch is to slow down and make sure to use fog lights.
“Slow down, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you and use your fog lights in affected areas, but remember to turn them off afterwards.”
