DELAY IN US INQUIRY INTO DEATH OF CONNEMARA SOLDIER

It’s emerged that the US Army investigation into the death of a Connemara woman who was serving in Afghanistan may take a number of months, or possibly a year.

Ciara Durkin, a native of Anagh Veain, near Lettermore died from gun shot wounds to the head inside a United States Army base in Afghanistan on the 28th of September last.

It is understood that she was not wounded in action and the circumstances surrounding her death has caused controversy.
