Date Published: 29-Jan-2008
Questions are being asked as to why work on a proposed leisure facility in Knocknacara has not yet started.
City Councillor Donal Lyons has asked Director of Services for Parks and Environment Tom Hernon for an urgent report on the proposed development on city council lands in Cappagh Park.
The development has been in the pipeline for 8 years and is set to comprise of a 25-metre swimming pool, children’s pool, sauna and steam room, crèche, cafe and health suite.
A consortium consisting of J&L Group, S&P Architects and NRG fitness won the contract to develop the leisure facility under the public procurement process.
Councillor Lyons is concerned work hasn’t yet started as he says it will be a great local amenity.
