Delay in appointments for debt advice in Galway
Galway Bay fm newsroom – People in Galway seeking advice on budgeting and debts are waiting longer than the average for appointments with the Money Advice and Budgeting Service, MABS.
According to Sinn Féin Senator, Trevor O’ Clochartaigh, there is a delay of 6 weeks in the South Galway MABS region and a delay of 5 weeks in North Galway.
There were 100 people in Galway still awaiting appointments with MABS counsellors up to June.
Nationally, the service has dealt with 2 thousand emergency cases since the start of the year.
Senator O’ Clochartaigh says the resources need to be provided to shorten the waiting times for MABS appointments in Galway.
