DECISION ON OBAMA’S GALWAY STOPOVER EXPECTED TODAY

Further details of President Barack Obamas scheduled trip to Ireland in May, including a possible stopover in Galway, are expected to be announced later today.

President Obama is expected to visit on the 22nd of May at the beginning of a European trip that will also see him visit Britain and France.

His ancestral home in Moneygall in Co.Offaly, along with trips to Kilkenny, Mayo and a courtesy call to President McAleese are all expected to be covered during the two-day trip.

However, intensive lobbying is underway to bring President Obama to Galway as part of the visit.
