DECISION ON FUNDING FOR COUNTY SEWERAGE SCHEMES DUE SHORTLY

A decision on funding for the proposed sewerage schemes in Claregalway and Milltown is expected in the coming weeks.

Galway West TD’s Noel Grealish and Frank Fahey joined Galway East TD Micheál Kitt in a meeting with Minister for the Environment John Gormley this week.

Minister Gormley wanted to include Craughwell in the joint scheme which would have delayed the whole process, according to Deputy Grealish.

After meeting the Galway delegation however, Minister Gormley decided not include Craughwell in this project.

He will now consider the two schemes as one contract and will meet with the Galway TDs in a fortnight to discuss the availability of funding.
