DECISION ON CONNEMARA FIRE STATION DELAYED
Date Published: 30-Jun-2011
The people of Connemara have been asked for their ‘patience’ on a decision to build another fire-station in the region.
Director of services Eugene Cummins told this week’s meeting of Galway county council that a report on the viability of extra services wont be ready for up to three months. (27/06)
At present, the Connemara region is served by the fire station in the city, and another in Clifden, which are almost 50 miles apart.
The campaign to create extra services in Connemara has been underway for years, and the Carraroe area has been pinpointed as the best location.
