DECISION IMMINENT ON ARAN ISLAND AIR SERVICE

The Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht will shortly make a decision on the Aran Islands air service contract.

The current contract with Aer Arann is set to expire at the end of August this year.

Islanders from Inis Mor, Inis Meain and Inis Oirr have been campaigning for months now in a bid to protect the future of their air service.

The current four year contract, worth over 6 million, provides for 3 daily return flights to Inis Mor, 2 daily return flights to Inis Meain and to Inis Oirr on weekdays with four return flights on weekends.
