O’Donnellan & Joyce Auctioneers are expecting strong results for their final auction of the year this Friday, when around 40 properties will go under the hammer.

Auction Co-ordinator Anne Harding said December is no longer a ‘quiet time’ in the property sector.

“There was a time when December would have been deemed to be a quiet month for auctions – not so anymore. O’Donnellan & Joyce can report that all open viewings have been extremely busy for both investment and residential properties with good results predicted,” said Ms Harding.

She added that the highlight of the auction will be ‘Beach House’ on Inis Mór, which is owned by Dragons Den star Barry O’Sullivan.

The six-bed holiday home is on the market with an Advised Minimum Value of €300,000, and all the proceeds will be donated to homeless charities Focus Ireland and COPE Galway.

“This auction promises to be both exciting and successful. In total, there are 40 lots ranging from investment properties to family homes and there are also some sites and land on offer,” she said.

Mary Fahy of O’Donnellan & Joyce said: “We’re looking forward to ending the year on a high note, as we have been experiencing strong levels of interest in all properties listed up and down the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’.

“Both sectors, residential and commercial, are attracting interest from home owners and investors. Even after price levels have risen in recent times, there is still value to be had, especially in the smaller towns across Connacht.”

Registration for the auction commences at 1pm in the Harbour Hotel, Galway, and the auction begins at 2pm. The live stream can be viewed at odj.ie
